MegaMillions
MegaMillions is an iconic multi-state lottery game that gives Virginia players a shot at a jackpot that starts at $20 million and grows from there until someone matches all six numbers to win it. Draws are held twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday nights at 11:00 PM ET. Ticket sales have a break starting at 10:45 PM on draw nights, so complete your purchase early. Keep reading to learn how to play and discover the nine prize tiers plus the odds of winning. Add the Megaplier option to boost any non-jackpot prize won.
How to Play
To start playing MegaMillions in Virginia for your chance to win, just follow these steps:
- Pick five white ball numbers from 1 through 70 and a gold Mega Ball number from 1 through 25. Or opt for Easy Pick to let the lottery terminal randomly generate some or all of your numbers.
- Add the optional Megaplier for $1 more to multiply any prize won below the jackpot.
- Purchase tickets prior to the 10:45 PM cut-off time on draw nights, and don't forget to check your numbers following the draw.
Check Multi-Draw for the most convenient option to play your numbers for up to 26 consecutive draws on one ticket.
Select Future Draw to play a special upcoming date. Check the Optional Plays box on your playslip and tell the clerk the date you'd like.
Love your numbers and want to play them again? Just request a Repeat play - you can do this up to 20 times.
Megaplier
Players can add the Megaplier option to their MegaMillions ticket to increase the value of any non-jackpot prize won by up to 5 times. The cost of Megaplier is an extra $1 per play.
Here's how it works: a Megaplier number from 2 to 5 is drawn on each MegaMillions draw night before the main numbers. Any prizes below the jackpot that are won will be boosted by the amount of the Megaplier number. For example, if a Megaplier 5X is drawn, the Match 5 prize jumps from $1 million to $5 million!
