Powerball
Powerball is a world-famous game that gives Virginia players the chance at record-breaking jackpots. Match all six numbers to win a top prize that starts at $20 million and keeps rolling over and growing until it's won - often hitting values in the hundreds of millions. Draws are held three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 PM ET. Sales are paused prior to the draw, so get your tickets before 10:00 PM on draw nights to enter the next game. On this page, find out how to play, details on the nine prize levels, and the odds of taking home a payout. Add Power Play to multiply any prizes won below the jackpot.
How to Play
Will you be the next Virginia Powerball multimillionaire? Simply follow these steps to start playing:
- Choose five white ball numbers from 1 through 69 and a red Powerball number from 1 through 26. You can also select Easy Pick and the lottery computer will randomly choose some or all of your numbers.
- To multiply any non-jackpot prizes, add the Power Play option for an extra $1.
- Complete your purchase by 10:00 PM ET on draw nights, and remember to check your numbers after the draw!
Power Play
Power Play is an optional prize multiplier add-on for your ticket that costs $1 more. Before every Powerball draw, a separate Power Play number is randomly selected. If you win a prize other than the jackpot, its value will be multipled by the Power Play number - 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or even 10x the original amount. 10x is only available when the top prize is $150 million or less.
The exception is the $1 million Match 5 second prize for matching the five white balls. Power Play always doubles it to $2 million, regardless of which number is drawn.
Powerball Prizes and Odds
There are a total of nine ways to win a Powerball payout. Match the five white balls plus the red Powerball to hit the jackpot.
